I obtained my medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. Subsequent to my medical degree, I completed my diploma in Mental Health and then my Psychiatry Fellowship with the College of Medicine of South Africa. Further, I completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Sports and Excercise Medicine at the University of South Wales (UK). 

My practice is based at the Netcare Park Lane Hospital in Johannesburg. 

While maintaining my passionate advocacy for mental health care, I embrace an approach emphasising holistic patient care. This leads me to involve lifestyle, diet, and exercise and the vital roles they play in treating my patients and aiding in their journey to mental health and well-being. As a result, I work closely with other specialists (endocrinologists, neurologists, physicians, neurosurgeons, gynaecologists, urologists, etc.) and other allied disciplines (psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dieticians, social workers, etc.).

As a former professional athlete, I have an active interest in sports medicine and neuropsychiatry, including acute and longer-term changes to the brain and brain functions in the aftermath of contact-sport related head trauma and concussion. In line with this, I have also previously served and the founder and Chairperson of the Medical Commission of Mixed Martial Arts in South Africa. 

I volunteer as a coach at Fight With Insight, a program developed by Luke Lamprecht and his team, which uses boxing as a therapeutic modality to treat various conditions (e.g.: autism, behavioural problems, mood and anxiety disorders). In line with these philosophies, I also run boxing groups for patients at my practice.
